[Electronics-Talk] [EXTERNAL] iphone apps for bar code identification

Digit Eyes is probably the best because it was designed for use by blind
persons, but the biggest problem that blind people have with bar codes
is finding them. The reason that the $1200 device works better is
because it has an omnidirectional camera that will scan the package
until it finds the code. The iPhone's camera only sees straight ahead,
so it is up to the user to move the phone, the package, or both until
you strike gold.

identification

Looking to see what the concensus of the community is on bar code
reading apps for the iphone.
If I can avoid the $1,200 for an id mate, that would be great.
Tried red laser a few years ago, but never got any joy.

Any information and or experiences would be helpful.
