The Nokia n95 is an old phone, but I bought it a few years ago from a guy
who sells tech stuff who put Kurzweil and mobile speak in it. The Kurzweil
is really the only reason why I bought it. I didn't want to have an iPhone,
and I had originally bought this phone just before we found out about the
Kurzweil in the iPhone. Besides using the reader, I can text if I want to,
I can check time and date and battery level and signal strength. I can also
change settings, such as changing the ringer. I could go on the net, but I
don't do that. I use my computer for that. Pam.

Pam,
So what does that phone do? that's a new model to me.
All phones text message now a days, but not all phones have speech so you
can send and receive texts as a vision impaired user.
If that phone meets your needs, that is what matters.

I'll just echo this and go one step further. I think a smart hone gives
you the ability to install 3rd party apps whereas this ability is
limited if not impossible on a feature phone. I would consider Nokia
phones running Windows Phone to be smart phones. Ditto for the Nokia
phones that used to run Symbian. Nokia did also sell feature phones, but
I can't recall what the name of that platform was. I think they were
called Series 40 phones, as opposed to the smart phones running Symbian,
which I think were called Series 60 phones.
