[Electronics-Talk] Accessible Micro Waves, the Battle is Lost

Hello,
but labeling the touch pad with braille or bump dot labels only works if the
button features do not change. If they do, you have to also be able to read
the screen. I am guessing Annette is finding that all microwaves are ones
with dynamic digital buttons. Since they do not always have the same
functions, you cannot label them.
I share your concerns, Annette. I just saw a touch screen fridge/freezer.
You have to press these flat buttons to change the temp and do things with
it.
I would suggest you write a resolution for state convention and national
convention on this matter if you are going. We can and should take a stand
on this growing problem.

I've been doing that for years. This way you can buy the micro of your
choice at the same price that everyone else pays as opposed to paying 4
times what the unit is worth.

Good afternoon Anet and everyone,
This is easier to solve than you seem to believe. It's just a
matter of labeling the touchPad with Braille labels. We faced the same
challenge when we got our latest microwave and moved into our current
apartment. The oven controlls were inaccessible. We made Braille labels
and placed them on the control pad in the appropriate places and can now
use it independently. Have you explored the possibility of buying a
microwave or other appliance that can be controlled by an App on your
iDevice or Androide Device?

I'm not wearing a diaper, so don't try to change me.
