Maybe I messed it, but what is the purpose of the app for a toothbrush?

Why spend $150 for an electric toothbrush? I use a $15 battery-poweredPhilips Sonicare PowerUp toothbrush which is just as effective as the more expensive rechargeable models. The advantage of a battery powered toothbrush is that it does not require a charging base that takes up counter space in your bathroom. I use a pair of rechargeable Panasonic Eneloop AA batteries in my Sonicare and get about 4 weeks of usage before the batteries have to be recharged. And I have two pairs of rechargeable batteries, so while one pair is recharging, I can simply install the other pair into the toothbrush, and I'm good to go again right away. It's just totally ridiculous. Where are you supposed to keep all those charging bases for those bathroom gadgets like electric toothbrushes, electric shavers, hair trimmers and oral irrigators? Nobody has yet invented a universal charging base that can charge all the bathroom gadgets you own. In my case, it doesn't matter, because I have no counter space to begin with in my tiny bathroom, and so rechargeable gadgets that require a charging base are out of the question.

The Oral-B Pro 5000 SmartSeries.. has an app you download. And he app is not accessible. At least, not yet.
So don't waste your time downloading it. It's not necessary. My dentist said I needed to start using an electric toothbrush, so I just thought it was cool to have a bluetooth toothbrush, and since it was a $150 item, which dropped to $85 after it being on sale and a coupon added from Amazon.com, I got it.
