[Electronics-Talk] Accessible Micro Waves, the Battle is Lost

Back in the 90's when we got our first over the range microwave, we did get
a braille overlay from GE. It was made of a plastic sheet that was not
clear. So if you applied it to the appliance, the sighted members of the
household could not read the print button labels.

I remember when I first moved into this building in 1984, the appliances
were GE. I had heard that GE made overlays for stoves and ovens. So, I
called them, and found out that they no longer did that. They just had
overlays for microwave ovens. And now, I guess they don't have that. Pam.

I can confirm that GE no longer provides braille overlays for microwaves. I
did not inquire about other appliances, but I'm guessing they no longer
provide braille overlays for them either.

Whirlpool no longer makes braille overlays, and I'm sure GE has followed
suit.
