[Electronics-Talk] Motion Sensors and Remote Access

I am interested in the devices that plug into the wall, and the item plugs
into the device. Do you know any brand names? There is *a lot* of stuff on
Amazon, and the search filters do not help much, so I need a little more
information. Finally, I do not plan to get an Amazon Echo. From what I have
heard, it has a lot of different functions, and I am not interested in
those, nor do I want to pay extra money for functionality that I will not
use; apologies for not being more specific in my original post..

If you have a smart phone IE I phone there are several types of home
automation systems that work using an accessible phone app. You will need a
wifi network and these devices.
there are several devices.
Devices that you plug into a wall outlet and then plug say a lamp into them.
Devices that screw into a light bulb socket and then you screw the light
into them There are also smart LED based lights There are also sensors that
detect motion and perform a programmable action.
I find a smart thermostat that I control from my iPhone makes my temp
controls accessible.
There are smart devices like TV and stereo amps that also can be controlled
via a smart phone.
A lot of the devices you can download the app and see if it is accessible
before you bye the hardware.
If you have the amazon echo there is a host of home automation devices that
work with it. Goto amazon and search home automation.
hope this helps.

Does anyone have suggestions for accessible systems for remotely controlling
items in the home, like the lights, or motion detection for controlling the
lights?
Thanks,
Nicole
