[Electronics-Talk] iPhone battery was Re: iPhone 5S and IOS 11

Last year I took my IPhone 4S to one of these "Fix-It" type cell phone 
repair places, and they replaced my battery for $35.  It took the guy all of 
about twenty minutes to replace it.  I've since upgraded to a 7 but I 
considered it well worth the money.

I just googled Can I replace my iPhone 5S battery, and it came up with very
detailed instructions, involving buying special tools and then carefully
taking apart the iPhone without breaking any of the internal components.
This is out of my comfort zone.  I'm happy to mess about with repairs on big
things, but tiny things not so much.  It did hint that getting Apple to do
the job might cost more than it's worth, but that's also a personal
decision.  But apparently the battery can be replaced, which is good to

When I asked Apple about replacing the battery in my iPod Touch, they said
it couldn't be done.  They didn't say that they don't want to repair old
things; they want you to buy something new, but that's the truth of the
thing.
However, if I can just replace the battery in my old iPhone, that would be
great.

The iPhone battery can be replaced either at the Apple store or by an
authorized repair center. I am hoping my phone battery will last until the
rumored SE2 comes out in 2018.
