[Electronics-Talk] hdmi tv to computer interface

Is it possible to hook a comcast system to a computer with an hdmi port on 
it where computer is running Linux and at least have the audio that would 
have played on TV play on the computer's multimedia system?  I can control 
my computer lots easier than the Vizio EL-629 set we have here if this 
will work.  What software would be needed to make this happen on Linux?
