The range of a bluetooth connection is more governed by the standard, then the specific hardware. I think bluetooth has a max range of around 30 feet, but could be wrong. It is intended to be local, no longer range.

Subject: [Electronics-Talk] Bluetooth speaker
Can anyone recommend a nice Bluetooth speaker? I want one that's small enough to stick in a pocket, has a decent range, say 60-75 feet, and has controls that are easy to feel.
I don't want one with flashing colored lights to waste the battery. What is it with sighted people and flashing colors? Weird!
Thanks.
Tracy
