[Electronics-Talk] App Programmable Coffee Makers

Good evening everyone,

Today our apartment maintenance department came to among
other things investigate the source of ants in our kitchen. After checking
around for possible draws it was discovered that the ants were drawn to our
coffee maker which we believe to be an old Mr. Coffee Model. If we cannot
eliminate the ants with a thorough cleaning of the coffeemaker we'll be in
the market for a new 12-cup brewer.

In 2014 we bought a Cuisinart 12-cup brewer that made great
coffee. Since the unit was programmable we needed sighted help getting the
machine to set up correctly so all we needed to do was to push a button in
the morning to make coffee. As long as no one mucked with the brewer
settings all worked well. When we moved into our current apartment we
discarded many of our belongings including the Cuisinart coffee brewer for
fear of bringing roaches to our new apartment.

My sister bought our replacement coffee maker the classic
Mr. Coffee Model. Despite routinely cleaning this brewer it's still
attracting ants and may need to be replaced. Most of the coffee brewers on
the market are the programmable type. Assuming one can find a model with
some degree of accessibility operating these units can be a challenge.
Recently a number of appliances have come on the market that can be
controlled by smartphone apps or a home automation system. We want to know
if anyone knows of such coffee brewers that can be programmed in this way?
If so we'd like to know the brand name and model as well as the ability to
program the unit independently. This is yet another angle on the coffee
brewer thread that has been on this list for over a week. Your suggestions
will be very much appreciated.
