It's actually alot easier then that. Make sure both the iPhone & MacBook are logged in and using the same iCloud account. Also make sure pages is installed on the macbook.
2 things. 1. your be able to open docs in pages on the mac and pages on the iPhone seamlessly! 2. Your be able to open files back and forth between iPhone and Mac and continue where you left off on the previous device. This is also true in most other apps like safari and the spreadsheet program and others.

Save to icloud on the phone probably with files then download from
icloud on her computer.
