So... it's my understanding, a smart plug is a wallblock transformer,
but the difference is, you plug your devices into it, then the block
into the wall, or serge protector/power strip, whatever, and then the
smart plug acts kind of as a gatewae to powering the device. So, you
then could go to your Echo device, for example, and say, Lady A: I'm not
saying her name as I don't wanna set off yall's devices if you have any,
but you say her name, then, turhn off coffee maker. Then, the smart plug
would quit sending electricity to the device plugged into the smart plug.

So, in more simpiler terms, it would be like basically unplugging the
coffee maker from the wall. The difference is, you're using smart
technology to stop the current flow rather than literally pulling it
from the outlet.
