[Electronics-Talk] The various small braille displays

There have not been changes to my knowledge.

As you may know, the Orbit Reader 20's development was funded by a consortium of organizations, including APH. Members then can buy bare units from Orbit Research at a given price, and package it and resell it. They can set their own prices. A knowledgeable person -- at the time, told me he/she thought APH had set the price too low -- and it turns out they were right apparently.

Andy, any idea why they raised the price? Have they made changes to the Orbit?

Maria, I own the Orbit. I like it very much. First, the price was right.
Then, the braille quality is excellent, and it is simple to use. It's small enough to carry around easily. It's easy to use for reading all kinds of things. Writing on it is as easy as writing on a braille-writer--no wobbly keys that lead to bad or missing characters. It connects easily to my iPhone. It also connects with my PC, but that connection isn't as stable, and I have to figure out why. My 2 complaints are that one dot is getting stuck up, and sometimes, when the battery is running low, it says there's an SD card error when there isn't one. It's still on warranty, so I have to get busy and get it in for service.
