[Electronics-Talk] New flip phone?

Tracy, from what I know the consumer cellular phone the duro doesn't talk
all the menues, I could be wrong, but from what I understand it just talks
the numbers. I have the verizon flip phones, the lg exalt which is the most
accessible in many ways, the kyozera cadence and a new flip phone as of 2
months ago called etalk which is on an android operating system, and some
of the buttons aren't labeled, such as when you're writing a text message.
My very favorite phone out of the 3 of these phones I have is the lg exalt,
whether you're husband uses the phone for some texting, and likes to make
use of the sound recorder or the calendar or calculater or he just uses the
phone, just for a phone this phone is set up so well and is the best phone.
If he just uses it for phone calls I think it's the best out of the phones
I've mentioned, that's if you have verizon. Getting back to the duro I think
it does have the talking caller id, which I'll find out about that from the
guys at our target store, they've been very helpful to us. Now it seems like
for the most part the other cariers are using the alcatel, which isn't as
truly accessible. I find it rather confusing to write a text message, plus,
especially as in many of the verizon phones, the options when writing a text
message, such as the symbols, upper case, lower case, numbers can't be
accessed. T-mobile, a t and t and some other carriers use the alcatel.
Verizon and sprint have the 4 g dura xv, which is what verizon calls it and
sprint calls it the dura max. I heard from someone that had seen the dura
xv 4g phone, that it's set up very much like the cadence phone, it's almost
a little too chatty, and the other drawback is the calendar, especially the
calendar and other items in the tools area aren't set up very well and
acutally a few of those items, such as the calculator is unusable. While
your husband may not be interested in using some of these other items in the
phone, I'm just giving you an idea about some of these different phones. For
the cadence though using the sound recorder is easy, and you could write
text messages and even arrow up or down and read what you wrote before you
send it. Now some of the best things on the exalt, that's really impressive
is in setting up an event in the calendar, setting an alarm in the alarm
clock, setting a birth date, when setting up a contact or setting the
ringtone is so easy. What's so neat and makes it so doable and easy, let's
say if you're setting an alarm you would press the left soft key to set, and
it will say enter hour so you arrow up or down for the hour number you need,
then arrow right again and it will say enter minute so you would arro up and
down for the minute number you want, or you could arrow up to 0 if for
example you want it to be 6:00, and arrowing right again it will say am or
pm and you would arrow down to which one you need. It's the same in the
calendar when setting a date, press the left soft key to set, and the phone
will say enter month, arrow up or down for the month you need, arrow right
again and it will say enter day, and you arrow up or down for the date
number for the day, and arrowing right again the phone says enter year, so
you would arrow up or down for the year you need. it's really easy to look
up dates in the calendar, we did it last night, the calendar goes from 1902
to 2036. Tracy, If you have any questions or anyone else has anyquestions
just ask. Tracy, I've got some detailed information about some of these
phones, that I could send you off list. There[s another brand new phone
that's for verizon that came out in august, a flip phone called the orbic
Journey 5. If anyone knows anything about it, let us know here on the list.
I'm going to call verizon to see if they have it at the verizon store so
maybe I could see it, it costs about $100. The cadence is $120 and the exalt
costs $144, and is worth every cent of that $144, and the etalk was only $25
when we got it at walmart, but it seems that it's about $52 at other stores.
The dura xv and the dura max are about $270 and there the rugged type flip
phones. my email address is
