The Otterbox does add weight and bulk, it is a personal decision as to whether you want it on your phone or not. They make the phone pretty indestructible but it does make it larger.

Purchase an Otter Box Protector with belt clip.  The belt clip is made so that you can stand up the phone like a TV screen.  This will enable you to stand your iPhone up so you can be seen by others via your camera.
