The Ecobee thermostats are nice. As someone else already pointed out the Ecobee 4 has Alexa built in. When we needed to purchase a new thermostat I was very tempted to buy that model but instead went with the Ecobee 3 Lite. That model did not have Alexa built in but as we already had Alexa units nearby it wasn't a feature that I thought that I needed and it was also more inexpensive than the 4. You can control the thermostats with any Alexa unit you might already have as well as Home Kit so that you can use Siri to control them. I also went with Ecobee as it is a supported product with our Xfinity service from Comcast. This allows me to use either the Xfinity Home app or the Xfinity app to set the temperature and adjust modes for heat, cool, etc. I should tell you that Ecobee's app offers poor accessibility and I would therefore not rely on it as your primary means of controlling the thermostat.

I have the Ecobee4 4 which works with amazon Alexa. The disadvantage of that is that if it goes offline for instance, you need sighted help to set it up again, or the initial set up with the wi-fi and all.
