I couldn't choose, but I was lucky enough that all the apartments I have

Well, you are lucky that you can choose which type of stove to buy. But
many of us who rent apartments have to settle for whatever the landlord
provides, which in my case is a gas oven with electronic ignition. This
is not a problem for me because I do most of my cooking in the microwave
and toaster ovens.
