[Electronics-Talk] Cost of AIRA

Hi David.
AIRA doesn't actually cost $99 a month anymore, at least not necessarily. I have the $30/month "introductory" plan, and, with the free 5 minutes with each call, it does fine for me.
I am used to doing without sighted help, and don't use AIRA every day, but, when I want it, it's handy to have. Now I've got that sighted person on hand whenever I want, the one everyone always imagines I've had all along. It doesn't always work, but mostly it does.
Tracy

The student I was with from the guide dog school worked in that area and wanted training. The school could not justify making a 2 and a half hour trip for just one person. So I offered to go with her. I had no idea I had to cross that wide of a street. I remember thinking does this crossing ever end? Now that I think of it regarding veering, I am just happy the dog did not veer. Yes, for the help you get from the agents, it is worth the money. The only thing is, some can't afford the minimum $100 that one has to spend for that service.

Wow, you are much braver than me :-) maybe when I was younger and had a little bit more site. Now, no way.

That is totally awesome that you can do that. I just like the fact that they can tell you if you are veering. That’s worth the money right there.

And my opinion is no blind person can know 100% of the time when is the right time to leave right at the beginning of a walk cycle! Sometimes there is to many things going on in an intersection. My favorite is a driver running a red light making me think I now have the walk signal! A Aira agent is not supposed to guess if he can see that walk signal, mine did. That is what I wanted everyone to know.

We should only use other services to assist us with vision but it is up to us to know when it is safe to cross a street or not.
