[Electronics-Talk] It's a Sony!

Good afternoon everyone,

We just returned from Best Buy and bought a 65-inch screen
Sony TV with all the bells and whistles. We'll take delivery on June 18,
2020 unless Geek Squad can deliver it sooner and set it up along with our
Xbox and troubleshoot some issues we've been having with our Apple TV. We'll
be glad when that's fixed!

The experience wasn't all that bad. Other than having to
wear masks and practice social distancing it was pretty much a routine
buying trip. I looked for tactile markers on the floor to see if they could
be felt by a white cane but there were none. The agent that helped us was
great in telling us where to go. It was just a matter of following his voice
though he did pushed Mary in her walker since she uses one if she needs to
walk long distances.

Since the staff sanitizes all appliances that are touched by
customers we were able to feel the TV and tried out several remotes.

The Google Assistant voice is more pleasant to hear than that of Roku. Now
to visit Sony's Website to download the manual so I can write up rules of
engagement for Geek Squad when they deliver the TV and set everything up.
The Xbox included a basketball game. We'll see how well it works with
Microsoft Narrator and Game Transcription. They have a golf and a bowling
game we'd like to buy later this year. Since Sony TVs include the Android
Store we discovered that Google Chrome is also available and will be able to
surf the Web on our TV. We'll finally be liberated from having to be limited
to accessing certain audio and video content on our desktops, tablets, and
iDevices yay!

Since we had to make an appointment we told the
representative that they should continue to offer that service long after
COVID-19 is relegated to the history books for those wishing to use this
service. Here's one way COVID-19 could benefit the blind by allowing
customers to reserve assistance in advance so long as it doesn't become a
requirement. All the best.
