While text to speech is available in fios there's a couple things to keep
in mind.
If you hit the menu button on the fios remote, text to speech goes silent.
It doesn't announce the button pressed and no key selections are announced
after that.
I got text to speech turned on again yesterday with sighted help.  We
thought text to speech got turned on having followed the directions to
enable it from verizon.  It didn't work yesterday or earlier today and
that was after configuration got saved.  So this morning I powered off the
cable box and left it off for more than 5 minutes then started everything
up again.  This time text to speech works.  So when text to speech is
enabled and configuration gets saved, reboot the cable box to get text to
speech working.

I am on a business account not personal and verizon only talks to the
business that pays them though verizon indirectly gets money through the
business from me.
