[Electronics-Talk] Washing machine

I have a very old pair from Maytag called the Neptune where the washer is a
front loader that I really like.

I generally keep a roll of paper towels on the shelf above the pair and
after I have run a load or some loads of laundry, I just wipe out all of the
excess water and keep the door ajar so that it will dry naturaly.

It is true if you leave the water in the boot which is around the door, that
mold can build up and it smells nasty! There are products that you can use
by running a separate small wash to kill the mold as well.

I really love a front loader because it is not as harsh on one's clothing as
the agitator type. However I have seen newer top loader models with no
agitator as well so I suppose it is a matter of preference and convenience
since a front loader is easier to load and unload.

My pair is 23 years old and I sure hope they will hang in there a bit longer
as they don't have touch screens and are very accessible.

No, you just leave the door open and no more mold. we have had one for
around ten years and never had a mold problem. The next one we buy will be
a front loader again.

Also i have been told that if you use a front loader there is a chemical
that you have to add to prevent mold.
