This is true.  If the channel you want is a typical provider's premium type
of channel or however they refer to it, then you would need to look at the
various other provider Apps which you will likely have to pay a few for
sports type channels.  You could also go to the ESPN site and see if they
offer a streaming option.  I doubt it would be free.  These aspects are
obviously the trade offs of cutting the cord.  If one cannot go without
those, then it's his or her choice to pay for premium services.

I like the one package from Hulu that I may subscribe to once  I turn in my
Comcast equipment.  I'll save between $50 to 75 at least per month and
that's a nice bit of extra savings in my bank account.

Hi.

I sent a question to the new list a couple of hours ago, but either nobody
knows, or nobody was subscribed to read it. I've cut the cord a couple
months ago, and encountered a problem with something that no longer worked
for me. One day I was hoping to watch something on Sportscenter. I thought I
could use the ESPN Plus app on my Fire TV to tune in. When I tried to bring
up the ESPN stream, I was asked for my cable provider. Since I no longer
have cable, I was unable to use it for what I wanted. All the content ESPN
streams still works, but anything that cable providers carry isn't. I can't
afford services like Youtube TV to get it, so right now I'm out of luck.
Thankfully, I have a smart speaker to tune into what I like, and my Fire TV
is rarely on anymore, so I really don't miss being tethered that much.

Just some information for those thinking of cutting the cord. Unless someone
knows a solution for less than $10, I'm stuck.

Well, I'm in. If you exercise self discipline and sub to only what you truly
like, it is so much cheaper. Most of the services are $5 a month and they do
give you a month warning if they will increase the price.
You don't need to subscribe to every streaming service there is.
