Yes Kevin, I noted the same thing, sports providers that one can access through the fire stick, you need to have a cable provider.  As you mentioned, pretty much the first thing Amazon or probably Apple TV, ask is, What is the name of your  cable provider? Oh, that is not limited to just sports stations.  This is why I suggest people investigate something before jumping in with both feet.

Yep, I was going to recommend Kevin check out Hulu. I have an antenna and really only watch 2-3 channnels with that and I have the $5.99 Hulu plan. However, they offer a live TV option and maybe Kevin can afford that.
