The U.S. Access Board invites the public to a virtual meeting on
advancing access to fitness equipment on July 14 from 1:00 – 3:15 pm
(ET). The event, “Moving Forward: Access to Inclusive Fitness
Equipment,” will feature panel presentations on the need for access to
fitness equipment, initiatives to address equipment accessibility, and
implementation of inclusive fitness equipment.
Scheduled panelists include representatives from the National Center on
Health, Physical Activity and Disability, the American Council for the
Blind, Mobility Fitness, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive
Technology Society of North America, ASTM International, Universal
Fitness Innovation & Transformation, Ability 360, I Design Access, and
equipment manufacturers. They will discuss the importance of access to
exercise equipment, resources and initiatives to promote inclusive
design of equipment, and examples of inclusive equipment and fitness
centers.
The event is free, but registration is required. The event will include
video remote interpreting (VRI) and real-time captioning. For further
