[Electronics-Talk] Adding an External Indoor Antenna to a Toshiba Fire TV Model

Hello everyone,

I just subscribed to this list so if this is an old topic, please pardon a
repeat question or issue!

I really would like to cut the CableTV cord and save about $100 worth of
cable TV costs per month where there's only a few channels that interest me
and some of which I can find from other sources.

I ordered an amplified antenna. Unfortunately, the model I ordered doesn't
have a switch that I can readily find on the amplifier to take it out of the
circuit. So I scanned with the amplifier in-line and then I manually
removed the amplifier and scanned again with no real difference.

I purchased this indoor TV antenna from Amazon for around $20 after a
discount. It is the

TV Antenna - Latest Amplified HD Digital Indoor Antenna Long 200 Miles Range
HDTV Antenna - 17ft Coax Cable Indoor Antenna for 4K Local Channels -
Support from All Television

4.9 out of 5 stars 14 ratings

The antenna is a current year model for indoor use and claims to have a chip
to filter out what I'd refer to as intermod from FM and other RF signals.
Since I live in Northern Virginia which is a very hot area in terms of much
in the way of active Radio Frequency transmissions from everything
imaginable, reception is challenging without an external antenna. However,
I am restricted by Condo Association rules as to what I can place outdoors
and attached to my town home or yes, I would prefer an outdoor antenna.

I have had a couple of other TVs in the past 10 or so years which had
seemingly better reception and these were digital TVs as well so I'm curious
if anyone has observed reception issues with the Toshiba FireTV models?

I am also curious to know what others have experienced with adding an
external indoor antenna to the Toshiba Fire TV and if there's any
recommendations? If this is too off topic, please email me offline.

Thanks!

Amanda
