[Electronics-Talk] Adding an External Indoor Antenna to a Toshiba Fire TV Model [DVS]

I don't have an answer to the original question. Just a question of my own.
Is that okay?
I might drift a bit, with some of my experience, however.

I want to know this, first:
Has anyone figured a way to stream the Facebook Live Event to a connected
streaming device?
Does it have to do with using this app I found and downloaded on the device,
called Facebook Watch?
We have been trying to watch grandkids graduations, and some other events.
If I can figure this out, it will make a nice Mother's Day present.

We are using the Amazon Firestick device. For about a month now.
My main praise for it is in the use of the Amazon designed Voice Guidance
system, which when turned on, sure does a lot better than other claims to
Accessibility, although I probably have not heard of most of them yet.
Our is connected to our Denon receiver which is connected to a 4-year-old
model Vizio smart TV's HTMI port.
The audio on some of these apps beats the audio we get from our DirecTV
connections! I don't now why, I guess it uses surround sound channels on the
Denon a bit better.

The Apps on the Firestick that I am using regularly by now are:
MLB.TV Premium
Netflix, Amazon Prime Video,
Amazon Music Unlimited, SiriusXM,
PBS Passport,

The fun thing on all of those has been to navigate using the voice guidance.
The Info button describes the page pretty well.
I had to learn, that Amazon has its own MLB.TV app. And the purchase goes
through them. I already had an account with MLB, so I had to get logged in
on that app, to use it properly.

I have wandered in to some of the areas that say they have Free TV with
commercials, to which you can subscribe for a monthly fee.
Some of these streaming network apps, will say they have Free TV shows. I
have not yet adopted one to use very much.
Tubi
Pluto
Are a couple I have tried for a bit.
The Amazon Prime has lots of connections to shows that are free, and not
requiring a separate subscription.

You Tube.
A favorite to many of us now, for content that seems just endless.
Once I figured there is a difference between the You Tube TV app and the
regular You Tube app, it was then that I figured a way to log in to my You
Tube free account, and cast the streaming content I was enjoying on You Tube
to the Amazon Firestick.
I enjoy have a You Tube account to which I can save content, even stash them
in folders created through You Tube's website.

Trying to find my Local TV stations.
It's still a bit of a mystery to me. The apps that I found, did not seem to
be all that good. Clumsy at best.
Since so many local stations are now owned by a few conglomerates, it is
feeling like less and less a place to get good news, as well as local
programming, since staffing has dwindled, or is populated by ambitious
rookies who if they are good will sail off soon, to a bigger market.

Me TV
I have not yet found an app to use to watch the Me TV content. I hear lots
of people talk about classic TV shows on there. If anyone knows, is this a
streaming or only a locally broadcast television service? I have a local
antennae, but only one major network is close enough to pick it up.

Thanks. And good luck with all of your electronic worlds.
It's a digital life. But we still have other life, too. Right? Smile.

Rik James

Yeah, I was just wondering shows like The Big Bang Theory and Frasier, which
are in syndication, has that service still when they are showed on the
antenna stations.

I cut the cable about 7 years ago, and even though they say the channels
that are available to me, I don't get. Which is no problem, because
accessing the SAP on my TV is impossible to utilized without vision.

If you are referring to Audio described content, the answer is you' might be
more likely (now how is that for a conflicting statement) be able to receive
more than from Cable TV or other providers. This issue has improved amongst
those providers though. If your TV is set to access Audio Described
content, then it's there for your enjoyment!

Just curious. Are shows that have DVS, which are broadcast via antenna have
the service, too?

Static was a big problem for me when I tried the antenna. The people that
advertise for these antennas try to get you hemmed in to get 1 because they
say that you can get a lot of channels with good to great reception. I just
have internet from frontier. I do TV on demand through the major networks.

We also tried cutting the cord and just ended up going back to cable.
Where we live we got several channels, but all accept one were pretty shaky
and not enjoyable to wa watch with audio going in and out. We also missed
the dvr, for now we just still have cable. Youtube isn't muchcheaper than
our cable bill anyway.
