[Electronics-Talk] looking for a good portable radio

Hi,

I'm sorry as I let the HDR16 pass us by as it's no longer available on 
Amazon and my Husband, Marcus wants a new radio. I'm also sorry as I'm 
not that radio savvy, so my language may not make much sense to radio 
buffs out there. Please bear with me and help if you can? He's hoping 
for something that has Short Wave or a side band as he believes the 
reception quality will be like that of the older CCrane radios. Anyone 
have any good suggestions of something similar to the HDR16 or the 
radios of old from CCrane. He does not want a small transistor radio, 
but a larger boom box type like the CCrane ones are. Promise not to let 
it slip by if it's out there somewhere. He hates the compression of the 
new radios from CCrane as he has a newer one. Thanks.
