I have the model that announces frequency, etc., and I like it a lot.

I don't own this radio myself, but I do own the non-talking version of this radio, the Sangean PR-D5, which is essentially identical.  The radio looks like a small boombox with twin 2.5 inch speakers flanking the display.  It has five preset buttons to store five AM and five FM stations.  The right side has continuously rotating tuning and volume knobs.  The PR-D17 has a carrying handle, which is lacking on my D5.
The radio can run on either AC with the included adapter or six C batteries.  Like the D5, the D17 has excellent reception on both AM and FM and very good audio quality from the two speakers.  It has a headphone jack, Telescopic FM antenna  and stereo/mono switchfor FM  as well as an aux input for connecting an MP3 player or other input device.  It measures about 8 inches long by 4 inches high by 2 inches deep and is pretty light, although it might be kind of heavy with the six C batteries installed.  Because of the voice prompts, the PR-D17 has become very popular with blind consumers and I have read a number of favorable reviews for it on other lists.  It announces the tuned station frequency as well as the time, alarm and menu options.  HTH.
