Subject: [Electronics-Talk] Slightly OT: Setting Up a New iPhone
I know that this is not necessarily related to accessibility,
but it might save people a lot of time.
At least for me, I thought that the easiest way to turn on
VoiceOver on a new iPhone was to plug it into the computer to connect it to
iTunes. This is okay if the iPhone backup that you want to use with your new
iPhone is through iTunes. I thought that, once setup, I could choose another
backup from iCloud, and sync to that, but that is not the case. I do not
know why iCloud backups are not available through iTunes-or maybe they are
and it was iTunes not playing well with Windows/JAWS. Either way, it seems
that, if you want to sync your new iPhone with an iCloud backup instead of a
backup through iTunes, you have to set it up manually. As for VoiceOver, I
found out through a Google search that triple pressing the side button will
turn on VoiceOver.
I hope that this helps someone, and I apologize if this was
considered enough off topic to not be appropriate for the list.
Nicole
