[Electronics-Talk] Scanners and OCR Revisited

Hi, Again, Folks.  I got my Canon P215II yesterday, and will make it 
operational today.

However, i also need to reactivate my Epson Perfection 1640SU that is as 
old as the hills.  Unfortunately, a Google search for drivers turned up 
sites that were third-party, but could provide me with device drivers 
for this scanner (don't really trust that kind of site).

Aside from the Epson site (which is tough to navigate), can I still get 
drivers from a reliable source, and if so, where.

If I can't revive my scanner, can anyone recommend a decent-priced 
flatbed scanner with ADF that will do duplexing (scan both sides of a page)?

If it wasn't for the fact I have some books I want to scan (and not 
cut), I'd be happy with the P215II.
