The Fossil brand of watches are also compatible with either iOS or Android.
They also support Alexa.
Perhaps you might want to contact the rehab agency who serves persons who
are blind or visually impaired in the state where you live as they can also
have a rehabilitation teacher come and show you methods for accessing how to
mark clothing, food items, appliances, phones, wearables and so forth.
Typically, they will provide a number of what are known as independent
living skills sessions as well as, if needed, orientation and mobility.
Sometimes being able to have more hands on contact with these aspects is
easier to acclimate to thatn an email.
There's been some great suggestions shared here so if this works for you,
that's ok too.
As some have shared, one can purchase various shapes from little lines to
dots which have adhesive backing and can be placed over a touch panel
control. My dishwasher has a button that is marked for start and the cycle
button has a dot on it.
When it is time to replace the dishwasher in your home, perhaps you and
your family could go together to visit stores who offer a wide range of
appliances such as Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes and local major appliance
stores.
You can inquire if there is a model of a dishwasher or other appliance which
does indeed offer controls that are not touch panel controls. You would be
surprised as even if they don't offer it such an accessible appliance for
show, they can often orderthem. There may be none available. However, it's
worth inquiring.

The Galaxy Watches do have Talkback, but it can be somewhat laggy at times.
Also, if you have an iOS device, you will not be able to pair the Galaxy
Watch up with it. My primary personal device is Android, and my business
phone is an iPhone. I will say though that the Galaxy Watches I have had
thus far get at least two days on the battery just about. I have never
gotten more than maybe sixteen hours on an Apple Watch. This was the Series
3 and Series 4 watches though. So, things may have slightly improved since
I made the switch to Android.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info.
Yikes, apple has the I-phone as a smart phone and the Ipad as its tablet so
I was thinking it was the I Watch for the smart watch. Okay its just the
apple watch.
Do the other watches you mentioned have a screen reader in them?
Maybe the Galaxy watches have talk back.
What is the Galaxy watch like? Is it light weight? Can it be worn all day or
does the battery run out?
Do other smart watches need to be paired with a smart phone? I know the
apple watch now can act alone or be paired with the IPhone.
Thanks for any ideas.
Ashley

Apple's watch is called the Apple Watch and not the iWatch, just in case you
start searching for things on line. There are some Android watches, such as
a Galaxy watch from Samsung, Pixel watch from Google and some others. These
work especially well with an Android smart phone but will also work with
iPhones too. I had a ticwatch back when I had a Galaxy S7, but I'm sure
things have changed a lot in the last few years.

Hi all,
Is the IWatch made by Apple the only accessible smart watch? If not, what
other options are there?
I know very little about smart watches.
If you have one, what are some main things it does? I heard you can text
message and also load music on it. I assume the apple watch has itunes and
the option to stream apple music as well as stream other radio from the
internet.
Can smart watches act as a timer or stop watch? Do they have a calendar
feature?
To listen to it may annoy people in public if you have it talking a lot. Can
the watch connect to headphones?
Also, do smart watches have Alexa or the Google assistant built into them or
give you the option for that to be installed?
Thanks.
Ashley
