There have been a lot of good suggestions made for labeling. Having access
to multiple solutions is a good strategy. Using reusable containers with
braille or other types of labels for storing spices or other items. For
boxes of tea, I use a slate and stylus to label the inner flap of each box
of tea, and leave that flap hanging out of the closed box. This makes it
easy to figure out what each box of tea is without having to take everything
out of the cabinet. When a box is empty, I remove the empty inner bag, and
replace it with the one from the new box. You could adopt this same system
using other labeling options instead of a slate and stylus such as the Pen
Friend or other tags. By re-using the box I save time by not having to
relabel the box. If I purchase multiple new boxes of tea, I use Seeing AI,
Aira or Be My Eyes to match up the new box with the labeled box.

Some tips for maximizing Pen Friend labels are:
Stick the labels to 3x5 index cards, or even a 3x5 index card cut in half to
make a 2.5x3 card.
To make the labeled index cards sturdy, after sticking the label on them,
cover both the front and back of the card with clear packing tape. The Pen
Friend can still read, and record messages on the covered label.
Use a hole punch to make a hole in the card so you can attach a rubber band,
string or twist tie to the card.
If using a 3x5 index card, fold it in half paralleled to the short side,
slip the tent like card through a rubber band or loop of string and then
staple the bottom edges of the tent together to prevent it from falling off
of the rubber band or string.
Keep paper clips attached to the labeled cards.
Have a bunch of cards already made up and ready to go and stored in a small
container with the Pend Friend reader. Keep them with the Pen Friend reader
together and nearby where you use them the most. This will allow you to
make a label quickly when you need it. When you no longer need the label
for something and you do not plan to use that message again, toss the label
back in the storage container for recording a message later. I use this
system at home in the kitchen for some things and for mail that needs to be
dealt with, as well as at work. At work this system is like using sticky
note.

Annette

I still think the Pen Friend is a very easy and quick way to label things.
You can attach them to small magnets to reuse them for cans. Great for
labeling small spice containers too.
