Brett,
I too am totally blind. My wife and I purchased a hot tub about four years
ago. I am not aware of accessible testing equipment, though there might be
some. There are some differences in the appropriate chemical regimens from
manufacturer to manufacturer so you probably want to know your manufacture
and what is expected for that tub.
When we purchased ours or before we did so, we talked to a blind guy who
had one, and he basically had his kids do the testing. They were of an age
where that was appropriate. We have a person who assists us with a variety
of reading and organizing tasks do so and the test strips are pretty easy.
The chemical management is very doable. Once you know the levels that are
required. Like Tom said before me, we do have a pool and spa management
company come out quarterly and test and drain and clean. That may not be
necessary for all of them and is a feature not everybody would want to do
but it works well for us.
