[Electronics-Talk] accessible short wave and am fm radio, where can I find one?

Hi all,

The CCrane skywave radio is probably a good choice but it is a complex radio.  One can get it through www.ccrane.com or through Amazon.  When buying a shortwave radio, be sure a keypad can be used to program in where you wish to listen!  That is a big help!  Many modern portable receivers have memories which are impossible to utilize.  I can easily key in where I wish to listen  or scan.  I can adjust all selectivity features.  Those features involving the digital  display, forget it!  One might be able to figure out the clock but I don’t bother!  One needs to know which frequency bands are best during the day or night!  I don’t know of any shortwave radios with talking features as a talking Am/Fm radio.  One must do their own workarounds.  Shortwave listening today isn’t the same today as it was thirty or so years ago.  One still can listen for hours but it isn’t the same!

I have the Tecsun Pl880 which I got two or three years ago. I have the original C crane radio with SSB which works nicely!  I also have the Eton Elite which is a larger radio.  I also have the Eaton executive radio.  I purchased both Eaton Radios from Amazon.  Go on youtube and search for shortwave radios.  Eaton was once grundig and the two names are used interchangeably!
