Hamilton Beach is a good brand.  However, it really depends on the budget of the purchaser and if they want good quality or a glorified electric eggbeater. Some want champagne  quality but insist on paying beer wages for it.  There are several choices and prices on Amazon. Cuisinart is at the top of the price range as is black and decker. I go more for the * rating, generally don't get anything less then a 4 * rated item. I also shop around sometimes you can get good quality at a lower price and just because something is expensive doesn't mean it is good.  You could be just paying for the name.

I recently bought a simple electric mixer at Target.  I also saw similar at Amazon, but I wanted to have some idea of what I was getting, so I chose Target.  It might be a Hamilton Beach, but I'm not sure.  
I think I searched for "electric hand mixer" on Amazon.
