Hello,
I thought the Stream's price was a definite discount; the 509.99 here versus bought straight from Humanware is $550.
So I don't see the need or cause of
David's posts.
Anyway, I do have a few questions more relevant to buying electronics here.
Most of us here know the VR stream is a talking book and media player with ability to play daisy files and even internet radio stations.
Its now in its third generation!
What is the difference between Generation 2 and 3? Even with Laz's discount, its still gone up in price a lot.
I've tried to figure out why they go up in price with only one upgrade. Are you getting more by paying more from going from the second generation to third generation?
I know one upgrade is the change to support sd cards of one tb.
Do you get more battery life? A better speaker?
Stereo output? I think past Streams
Had only mono output for playback and I think mono recording ability only.
Will it pair to all Bluetooth devices like headphones?
What media file formats will it play? I know the main types like WAV, mp3 and flac are supported.
If you buy from Laz, does the Stream come with a custom user guide or just the built in Humanware user guide?
I was also wondering if the Victor treck was still available?
When it was bought for me by a nonprofit about 5 years ago, the VR trek combined the second generation stream with the Trek features.
Finally, what is the EVO 10 and EVO 12 talking book players like?
I've not seen those yet. Which speech does it use?
I know they do not play the NLS talking books but they can play
Ebooks and other daisy books.
What types of books can the EVO 10 and EVO 12 play?
Many of us use the NLS talking book
Program as our primary source of specialized books. Will it
Play commercial audiobooks such as those you buy from Barnes and Noble? How about audible books?
>From what I can tell, both the Vr stream and evo 10 and 12 players do play bookshare books
As well as internet radio stations and podcasts coupled with recording ability for your own notes.
I know that unfortunately the new VR Stream fails to play the Learning Ally audio books.
For those who do not know it, this nonprofit has volunteer readers record textbooks and other book content for educational use.
It’s a blessing to have for those of us who learn best using human read books.
Will the Evo 10 or Evo 12
Talking book readers play the Learning Ally daisy books? Do any of Laz's products play the Learning ally daisy books?
I would guess not.
Learning Ally now has their own app out and it seems like less and less daisy players will play them.
I know the NLS free digital player used to play Learning Ally books, but I'm not sure that is the case anymore.
I remember the days in my later years of college listening to Learning ally books on my NLS talking book player.
Thanks for any clarification on these features.

As your last response to my ad on this list was a cheap shot at my Stream 3 price of only 509.99 plus a free 32GB card and free shipping inside the US, I took this most recent response as more of the same from you, and I didn't notice any mention of any concerns being mentioned in your reply. Would you like to state your concerns now, or are you just ghoing to continue taking cheap shots at my every message? Perhaps the list moderator should step in and stop this nonsense...
