Just by luck, I found the exact kind of radio I want at Amazon.

It looks like the transistor radio I had as a kid-rectangular, volume knob,
station knob, telescoping antenna. It has a switch to turn it on and choose
AM or FM. It has a speaker and an earphone jack.
It uses 2 AA batteries for power.
It sounds fine, and the volume and station tuning are fine. It doesn't seem
to have any battery-draining clock or lights or whatever whiz-bang sighted
people seem to want.
I'm sharing this just in case someone else wants a plain, old-fashioned,
no-frills radio. I'm ordering another one for the hopefully distant day
when this one breaks and they're not made anymore. Good old Sony radios.
Tracy
