Yes, you can read Kindle books online through the Kindle Cloud Reader, available at https://read.amazon.com/. This web-based version of Kindle is generally compatible with screen readers, including JAWS, and can be a good alternative if the Kindle for PC app isn't fully accessible at the moment.
Many JAWS users have reported positive experiences with the Kindle Cloud Reader, though accessibility can vary depending on specific books and navigation needs. It’s typically possible to adjust font size, navigate chapters, and access bookmarks. However, your experience may vary depending on the book format, as some complex layouts might be more challenging.
If you'd like to test it out, you can try opening a Kindle book in the Cloud Reader and explore some basic navigation functions. Hope this helps. 😊

Hello,
I'm also a Jaws user. I'd like to use the kindle for pc app too but if you have access issues I won't do it.
Has anyone read the kindle books online in a web browser? I heard that is possible but not sure if that is accessible. Thanks.

I've always used jaws for it, ever since the kindle for PC app started working with jaws. Before that, I use the kindle for PC app with accessibility plug in, which used built in TTS. I don't think they make that separate windows app anymore.

Hello,
I had the same question because I wanted to read kindle books via pc and have never tried it.
Is it really not accessible now on the desktop app for windows pcs?
Is anyone using the latest Jaws or other screen reader with success? I thought that maybe updating jaws may help the issue.
Is there any work arounds? If not, I suggest we call NFB and maybe they can call upon Amazon to fix the accessibility bug.
Thanks,
Ashley
Sherri, wow, you have a lot of kindle books. When the windows app was usable, did you have the ability to browse the book and skip to certain chapters? What about pages and sections? I don't know if books are marked up with headings and other html elements to navigate it like a webpage. Thanks.

Not anymore. After an update to the app, I can't use it anymore. I can't get books to open from my library. I have almost a thousand kindle books.
