The newest one is the Echo Dot 5th Generation. Howerer, I have the 4th Generation. It is pretty sensitive, and it should be able to pick up your voice from a fair distance. I have the problem all the time where my Echo in the kitchen responds when I am summoning the one in my master bedroom or the master bathroom. I can't answer your other questions since I don't shop using it nor do I use the drop in feature.

Subject: [Electronics-Talk] newest Amazon echo features and shopping with it

Hello all,

I'm considering the newest Alexa Speaker for Christmas. I think this new one is the Amazon Echo fourth generation. I already have the cylinder Echo speaker which I think is the second generation since I got it a year or two after the product came out.

If you currently use the Amazon speaker fourth generation, what do you like about it? Is the sound more sensitive to your voice than the prior models. I mean, can you be further away from it and the Echo still hear your voice?
I've not used the drop in feature. But I've considered it to drop in on my brother's home or another room in my home if I get a second echo. Is that helpful? When using drop in, can the other people in that room talk back to you like using an intercom?

Also, to what extent can you do shopping with the newest Echo? I know you can ask it for products and then it gives you choices of products to add to your cart and then buy right then or later. I have not bought anything with it yet, but I've done some browsing with it. Can you only buy from Amazon with it?

Can you shop for most anything on it including groceries?

Also, I know there is the show and tell feature to identify products with it. Is this feature only available through the Echo Show or if not, which Alexa devices have that feature?

Thanks.

Ashley
