[Electronics-Talk] Aggressive Bluetooth devices?

I was running the Chapter hybrid Zoom meeting, using the JBL Go04 speaker so everyone at the table could hear everyone online.
Things were going fine until, apparently for no good reason, the audio from the computer suddenly routed to my hearing-aids, which was fine for me, but not so much for those listening to the JBL speaker.
I re-established the original connection, but the episode was annoying.

Actually, this kind of thing has happened before with other BT speakers.
I thought once a paired device was connected, the data link was secure.

What am I not understanding here?
