[Electronics-Talk] experience with kyocera dura xv phone and similar phones

Allen, my wife uses the Kyocera DuraXV Extreme.  She has trouble using the pushbuttons and she always forgets to press a number button twice, in order for it to be registered when she's asked to.
She tried the iPhone, but wasn't able to perform the finger gestures.

One of the things about the Kyocera DuraXV Extreme is the voice quality.  The speaker sounds as if it is cracked.
I got a brailled owner's manual for the phone, it was ridiculous!  Wasn't much help.  And this is a company that claims they pride themselves on promoting independence, then turn around and state in the owner's manual, visual assistance is needed.
Even when dictating a number to be called, it will say the wrong number, at times.

I have used the Kyocera DuraXV Extreme for almost five years now. I do not use all of the features on the phone, but I find it very accessible for most functions. I can read text messages using the built in text to speech, and you can compose texts using the letter by letter method. Contacts can be entered to. I have found it to be as good of a flip phone as I have ever had as I did have several LG phones over the years.

Does anyone use or seen the kyocera dura xv extreme feature phone?

I usually use phones for basic things so would be okay with a good feature phone. I currently use a feature phone but not all menus speak.



Does it have clear speech for menus? I thought I read it did have some text to speech on it.

I know it can enlarge the font.





Can you do basic tasks with it using the built in screen reader?

I mean things like adding a contact, setting alarms, or checking the date.

Can the phone send and receive text messages in an accessible way such as dictation of a message or typing it in with the numeric keys letter by letter?



If this feature phone is not too accessible, what is a similar phone that is?
