If you are serious about this then try mp3 Direct Cut.

It allows  configuration of the split gaps and the sound level threshold used to determine what are gaps.  It will also transfer  the ID3 tags of the original file to the split  files.

It is simple to use but you need  to be careful or you may  find yourself in a tangle over file names.

As for your Goldwave problems, are you selecting the  block of audio correctly with [ and ]?

Hello all,

I'm using Windows 11 on one of my pcs.

On this pc, I want to do some very basic editing such as splitting a larger file into smaller ones and then putting the files on a cd or make a playlist of them.

I am hoping to do some very basic editing. I cannot seem to make Goldwave work so I'm seeking other ways.

When I opened Goldwave now, it does not let me go back or forward in the file as it used to with the right and left arrow keys.

I'm trying to avoid audacity as this program has a larger learning curve.

I am seeking a way for free to split audio tracks up and also hopefully trim off some parts at the beginning of tracks.

I am planning to split large files from zoom recordings up which are now in
MP4 format but I can convert them first to MP3 if needed to work with Windows media player.

Can the newest windows media player do this?

Can I use mp4 files and split them once inside windows media player or will I need to convert to mp3 first?

I have a number of zoom recording files I desire to split up and retain the good quality of the file.

I've also read about a free plugin called wmp trimmer plugin for Windows media player.

Anyone used it and can it work well with a screen reader?

Is there accessibility for this plug in such as keyboard commands?

What options are there for accessible splitting files up and other basic editing with a screen reader?

Does VLC media software do this?

I've also read about other mp3 splitters online and free to download. But I do not know which can be accessible with built in use of keyboard commands.

Many editing programs rely on mouse features like drag and drop or clicking on different sections of a visual graph to mark the places you want to cut.
