 Hey y’all!

I hope everyone’s year is off to a great start! 😁 Before our meeting this Sunday, January 23rd, I wanted to get everyone updated with our last meeting. Below are the minutes from our November 2021 monthly meeting. As always, if you have any questions or  concerns please let me know.

Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes

November 21, 2021

1.     Call to order
·       Meeting was called to order by Vice President Z’Leah at 6:14 PM
2.     Roll call
3.     Absent: President: Jannik, Treasurer: Meliora,  Marketing Committee: Grace and Thomas
4.     Guests: Jorge
5.     The Pledge was recited by Z’Leah
6.     Secretary’s report: Sewar Quneibi

Elijah motions to accept last meeting’s minutes. Motion seconded by Tate. All were in favor.

7.     Treasurer’s report: Meliora Hatcher
·       No updates
8.     Z’Leah opens up a discussion regarding holiday movie night.
·       The floor agrees to have the movie night after the school semester ends, either December 17 or 19.
·       Jorge states it is a good idea to invite affiliate’s to FABS to reach out to mor people.
·       Camille mentions that the 19th of December is a better option where most people will be available.
·       The floor agrees that December 19th at 8:00 PM is when the movie should be scheduled.
·       The discussion shifts to what movie to watch. Jorge was very excited to discuss Christmas movies.
·       Everyone started throwing out movies suggestions. Movies suggested: Home Alone, A Christmas Carole, Santa Clause movies, A Nightmare Before Christmas etc.

9.  Jorge announces a NFB fundraiser.

·       Jorge explains a fundraising raffle is being held by NFBF to raise funds for student scholarships. Please donate if you can.

10. Additionally, Jorge announces that the Washington Seminar is coming up in February.

·       He explains it is a wonderful way to encourage students to participate. It is held at Capitol Hill and expenses are covered by the organization.
·       It is expected to be in person, but it may end up being online.
·       One or two members of congress will speak.
·       Camille explains activities are held Mundey, Tuesday will hold a congressional meeting, and Wednesday members start traveling home. Mock meeting will be provided to inform members on what to say and how to behave.
·       Camille states the selection process for participant’s haven’t been arranged yet, depends whether virtual or in person.
·       Washington Seminarian spends the next year working with the legislative committee.

11. Z’Leah circles back to the Holiday movies .

·       The floor agrees to send a list of movies to the WhatsApp group chat where members can vote.

12. Elijah gives an update on the Marketing Committee.

·       A video posted on the FABS TikTok has more than 130 views.
·       Facebook currently has 64 followers. Facebook group has around 40 followers.
·       A PSA on the radio is in the process of being arranged.
·       Goal was set for members to post one minute video describing themselves to TikTok.

13. Adjournment

·       VP Z’Leah calls meeting to adjourn.

Sewar motions to adjourn the meeting. Elijah seconds the motion. All were in favor.

·       Meeting was adjourned at 7:33 PM
