FABS Monthly Meeting Minutes

August 18, 2024

The meeting started at 6:07pm

Role Call by Z’Leah at 6:07pm

   -

   All board members were present
   -

   There were 4 members.

Icebreaker at 6:10pm

   If you could learn a skill instantly, what skill would it be and why?

      Elijah and Meli want to learn a new language
      -

      Z’Leah and Camile want to learn the guitar
      -

      Yassir wants to be a pilot
      -

      Tom wants to learn how to garden.
      -

      Natalie wants to learn about what cats say.
      -

      Christian wants to know how to fly.
      -

      Niklas wants to have a good memory.


Treasurer’s Report at 6:18pm

   -

   Beginning Balance: $1717.50
   -

   Any spendings? $250.12
   -

   Anything deposited? $268

Ending Balance: 1,760.38

Christian made a motion to approve the report as read. Elijah seconded the
motion. All were in favor.

The Secretary’s Report for July was sent out via email. Tom made a motion
to approve the report as read. Christian seconded the motion

FABS Monthly Social Debrief at 6:22pm

Should we have it again and what should be the next activity?

Elijah enjoyed it, and has suggested a movie night

QC games for the next social night?

State Convention Highlights at 6:29pm

   -

   Room rates are $119 a night untaxed
   -

   Hotel: Southbank Hotel: 1515 Prudential Dr., Jacksonville, FL, 32207
   -

   NFB National Rep: Everett Beacon, Utah
   -

   Registration is $25 and banquet is $75 (up from $50).
   -

   Payments will be made through PayPal, no credit card transactions will
   be accepted.
   -

   Volunteers will be needed for the registration table. Contact Sylvia
   Young for more.
   -

   Volunteers needed in the hospitality suite. Contact Kaye Baker for more.
   -

   The Red Bus (OneBlood) will be at the convention Friday, Saturday, and
   Sunday afternoon. Contact Russ Davis for more.
   -

   If you want an electronic copy of the agenda, you won’t get a print,
   large print or braille copy of it unless you request it using the
   corresponding option in the form.
   -

   Seven members are up for election.
   -

   The dollar auction is happening, so bring $1 bills with you. Finger food
   will be provided.
   -

   The Business Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 12
   -

   You can pay your dues early.

FABS Tabling at 6:36pm

   -

   The cost of the table is $25.
   -

   We plan to do something with a raffle with cash only.

Donating to the hospitality suite at 6:45pm

   -

   We plan to donate $50 to the hospitality suite.

Jose makes a motion to make a motion to donate $50 to the hospitality
suite, with Elijah seconding the motion.

All were in favor.

Pledging to the affiliate at 6:47pm

   -

   This will be tabled as the board needs time to discuss it.

Affiliate Sponsorship Announcement at 6:51pm

This will be for first timers only.

Christian motioned to adjourn the meeting. Jose seconded the motion
