Hello, Sunrise and Shine family,
Floridians, are you busy preparing for Helene? She should be a full-fledged
hurricane by the time we gather tomorrow on Sunrise and Shine with
NFB-NEWSLINE®.
Yes, you read that note correctly. I left that in on purpose, because I’m
in disbelief that just two weeks later, we’re sheltering again from another
huge hurricane. That’s was the opening for the last ‘Rise and Shine
announcement. There’s something wrong with this picture.
If you are able to log in, (obviously, connections to cell service, power
and internet will impact a lot of us), please do so. We would very much,
like to know how you are doing in the morning and how you did overnight.
This call will give us a chance to come together and lend each other
emotional support. We’ve had calls of this variety several times over the
past few years, and I am always grateful to those who stop in.
As many of you might already be aware, the National Federation of the Blind
of Florida annual convention schedule for this coming weekend in
Jacksonville has been postponed. We thought many would be gathering in
person over the weekend, but Milton has forced us to change our plans. I
hope you will be able to support our effort with Sunrise and Shine to stay
in touch.
If you haven’t been to one of our calls before, joining us at 9:00 AM for
coffee or tea will give you a chance to find out what you’ve been missing.
We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and
for lots of warmth and laughter.
Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the
Zoom platform over the past few years and in fact, we’ve been using Zoom
since we launched Rise and Shine way back on April 16th2020. If you’re not
used to using Zoom or if it’s still giving you difficulties, don’t give up
just yet. You can access the meeting by clicking on he below listed web
link, by using the one tap mobile feature or by dialing the phone number
provided and entering the access code when prompted.
The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to
see new faces.
Hope to have you with us this Thursday morning, see below for the Zoom
info.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me before the
call. Check the bottom of this email for the Zoom call-in instructions.
