I'm in agreement with Alan, here.  If we're limited on our discussion, why 
not change the name of the list?

I would like to propose, gently and in kindness, that perhaps the name of 
this list, "Faith Talk" while short and to the point is, perhaps, too 
generic?  It seems to imply that all matters relating to faith are welcome. 
If the name of the group more accurately reflected the purpose of the group, 
we might not stray off into these areas that go beyond the scope of the 
list's intent.  Just some thoughts.
