[Faith-talk] Praying in Poetry

Paul says to pray without ceasing. He may have been addressing this to
the Church as a whole. For us as individuals it means constantly keeping
out hearts fixed on the Lord. That isn't easyk. Personally, I find that
composing short prayers in verse is very helpful. It mobilizes emotion
to aid one's will instead of opposing it. Here is one:
Teach me, Lord, to live by love,
And never strive for selfish ends.
Let thoughts and words and actions move
By grace, on which my life dopends.

I'm not trying to blow my own horn. On the other hand, Jesus tells us
"Let your good works shine before men, that they may give glory to your
Father in heaven." This is a way of spreading the Gospel and helping
others grow in it, an appropriate activity for the Lord's Day.
