Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments
(gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the
power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they
vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same. And there are distinctive
varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is
served]. And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to
accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them
all in all. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
One time, a person who encourages the Body of Christ very effectively was
interviewed on a secular television show. Later, an Evangelist came out and
blasted the fact that this man did not take the time to minister the gospel
to the world when he had the opportunity.
I sought the Lord about this and saw where the Evangelist hadn't realized
where he was a mouth, the Encourager was an ear.
For the body does not consist of one limb or organ but of many. If the
foot should say, Because I am not the hand, I do not belong to the body,
would it be therefore not [a part] of the body? If the ear should say,
Because I am not the eye, I do not belong to the body, would it be
therefore not [a part] of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where
[would be the sense of] hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where
[would be the sense of] smell? 1 Corinthians 12:14-17
A lot of people KNOW to what they have been called: it just comes EASY to
them!!!
Aside from our callings, yes, we are all supposed to share the Salvation
In Jesus Christ to a dying world, but an Evangelist can not only do it with
ease and passion but the anointing on such a calling compels people to come
forward and give their lives over to the Lord Jesus Christ!! Those not
called to evangelism, are also anointed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ
but on a one-to-one basis usually and sometimes only seeds are sown and the
person never sees the actual harvest. Most Evangelists called to do that
DO!!
Yet, an evangelist, maybe because it IS so easy for them, does not
understand WHY not everyone does what he does!! The sad thing is when he
says so! It becomes very confusing to the Body of Christ!
We can say that about every gift and calling IN the Body of Christ!!
And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to
accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them
all in all. But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit
[the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and
profit. 1 Corinthians 12:6-7
We can say this about Praise and Worship Leaders or Choir members who do
not understand why EVERYONE does not have a passion to sing loudly and
CONSTANTLY!
Or a Teacher who thinks everyone should be able to teach....
Or a Prayer warrior so anointed that they pray "at the drop of a hat" and
does not understand why others are not so led!!
To one is given in and through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] a
message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] a word of
knowledge and understanding according to the same [Holy] Spirit; To another
[wonder-working] faith by the same [Holy] Spirit, to another the
extraordinary powers of healing by the one Spirit; To another the working
of miracles, to another prophetic insight (the gift of interpreting the
divine will and purpose); to another the ability to discern and distinguish
between [the utterances of true] spirits [and false ones], to another
various kinds of [unknown] tongues, to another the ability to interpret
[such] tongues. All these [gifts, achievements, abilities] are inspired and
brought to pass by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, Who apportions to each
person individually [exactly] as He chooses. 1 Corinthians 12:8-11
Now, some people haven't yet learned what IS their gift and calling...so
just as a natural child does, he tries different things and sees how the
Lord shall lead him. He will sign-up for almost ANYTHING in his church just
to see where he fits in...it is the same on-line too!
Years ago, I joined a Prayer group. I enjoyed it tremendously but became
overwhelmed by the amount of prayer requests coming thru. I tried to keep
up, God knows. And I tried to pray for each one, God knows. But I began to
fail miserably at the calling I DID have (and know about) and I couldn't
understand what was wrong with me!! Things around me started to fall apart
and unravel and I internalized it. Finally, I came before God: "What is
wrong with me? Why cannot I accomplish ANYTHING right now a days?"
And He showed me how my focus and priorities had changed and not by His
hand either!!
So I regrouped in Him.
I went back to those things I KNEW I had been called to do and left
everything else at a stand still and filled up on Him until my peace and
joy returned once again.
And now I find myself in the same place again in a Prayer Group!
I started out strong yet slowly my peace, joy and even my faith started
going down-hill! I became weary and worried and just worn out. Oh how I
sought the Lord and as I did, again I was led to go back to the things I
KNEW I had been called to do:
Loving and caring and praying for my family: my husband, my Mom, my
daughter and my grandkids as well as all of the House of Mike & Marlene
(Genesis 7:1, 1 Samuel 20:14-16 ,1 Peter 3:9, and many many more!) and to
be on-line ministering to those who have lost hope or are just seeking
fellowship in the Lord Jesus Christ. My ministry has always been to help
the Body of Christ get their eyes BACK on the Lord and to continue to grow
in the things of God...whether they need just the sincere milk of the word
of God or meat...
My joy, peace and yes, even my faith has come back to full measure as at
the first and the Lord started pointing things out to me...how I joined the
Prayer Group for the fellowship and in so doing, TOOK IT UPON MYSELF, to
read each post and try and pray for all these people I did not know!! I was
NOT anointed to do that! Even tho I had pure motives and wanted to help
people, this was not what I was anointed to do. This was just a re-teaching
for me from the last time I tried to be a "Prayer Warrior"!!
This morning, the Holy Spirit gave me clear insight about all of this!!
It was no accident that made me join!! It was for me to see and notice a
few things about the gift of an Intercessor and a Prayer Warrior and to
measure myself by these to see if any of them applied to me. I pray it
helps any one else in the Body of Christ to also find out if this is what
you are called to do or if it is something you felt you SHOULD do -and
maybe even a Prayer Warrior, not understanding that we are NOT all called
and anointed to do this, has pushed you into this thinking we all should be
able to do it as they do!! It is the foot trying to make other feet instead
of the Holy Spirit being allowed to make each of us in the Body of Christ
what HE wants us to be...a foot? a hand? an eye?...and not try and make
everyone else the same thing...and yet STILL keep the unity of the faith!
For just as the body is a unity and yet has many parts, and all the
parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ (the
Messiah, the Anointed One). For by [means of the personal agency of] one
[Holy] Spirit we were all, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free, baptized
[and by baptism united together] into one body, and all made to drink of
one [Holy] Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13
Check List to see if you are anointed for a Prayer Ministry:
1. You are drawn to do it by God
2. You have an EASY time bringing each and every request up before the
Lord and expecting Him to answer. So much so that afterwards, no matter
WHAT it looks like, you TRUST God that He heard your prayers for them and
KNOW that He IS doing a work, and you have such joy in it.
3. Your confidence you are doing this at God's direction is very great.
4. You LOVE to see the Praise reports as it only solidifies and proves
the faith you had in your prayers and the prayers of the other Prayer
Warriors of God.
How to tell if you are NOT called to do this:
1. The prayer requests start to feel too much.
2. They effect your sleep
3. You read them and are hit in your emotions almost as deeply as the
person or persons experiencing the prayer need.
4. You start to feel overwhelmed and condemned because you almost feel
like there is no end to the requests.
5. You sometimes become critical of someone's prayer request (maybe you
feel they are acting like God is santa claus and they are bringing you
their wish list set in a setting of "Prayer", or maybe you see that same
person asking for prayer over and over and over and wonder what's wrong
with them, or you just plain do not WANT to pray for them!)
6. You start to feel depressed and wonder where your peace and joy went
to and maybe even why you have become so critical ("that's not very loving"
you say to yourself in condemnation but you cannot seem to help it)
7. You start to act on depression's ugly cousin, "self-pity". You throw a
pity party and you & the devil show up and start to talk about the
requesters as too needy, too greedy or too selfish and other pray-ers as if
they didn't care about you any more and depression joins in.
8. You start to feel out of place....
9. You get offended and hurt more easily whereas before, these same
things would have rolled right off of you.
All these things the Holy Spirit had me notice in myself and in others of
the Body of Christ, when we try to do something, someone else is anointed
and called to do but we are not.
So that there should be no division or discord or lack of adaptation [of
the parts of the body to each other], but the members all alike should have
a mutual interest in and care for one another. And if one member suffers,
all the parts [share] the suffering; if one member is honored, all the
members [share in] the enjoyment of it. Now you [collectively] are Christ's
body and [individually] you are members of it, each part severally and
distinct [each with his own place and function]. 1 Corinthians 12:25-27
Just DO what you are anointed to do.
The devil would like nothing more than to make us each feel badly that we
cannot do EVERYTHING! Yet scripture makes it clear God did NOT call ALL of
us to EVERYTHING!! He called us ALL to unity in the Holy Spirit and to work
together for His common good amen?
God continue to bless you always and forever,
May He come for us and find each of us doing
what He has called and anointed us to do.
Giant sissy hugs,
Your sissy in Jesus,
SissyMarlene
For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let
your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse
[for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another. Galatians
5:13
