[Faith-talk] Koran question

well, from what I hear, like the many differing opinions on Christian
beliefs and multitude of churches, there are multiple schools of thought in
those who call themselves muslims. I think the 3 sources only applies to
the Sunni's, which constitutes most lf all the followers of the quran. But
just just like the whole world doesn't believe like the catholics even
though the catholic church has the largest membership of Christian churches,
you can't take the whole muslim population and say they believe in the
non-quroanic texts that the Sunnis accept.
I am getting in over my head. I started reading an English copy of the
quron just to get a feel for what is in it, but haven't progressed past Sura
2. But what I've read most certainly denounces the terrorism ascribed to by
the radical groups. Verse 256 is a beauty: "There is no compulsion in
religion..."

Islam says the Koran can only be read in the original Arabic. No translation
is
approved.

Of course, the Koran is only one of the three documents that make up the
foundation of Islam - and is only about 16% of the total. Unlike the
Christian
Bible, the Koran is not the only source of belief and practice.

I have a Super CD from National Braille Press that has four different
versions
of the Koran. Does anyone know whose translation is supposed to be the most
accurate?

A path well-trod,
A familiar lane
Through sacred sod,
A road we travel
Too often, I fear,
For there are the good times
When things are hard here,
