oh that explains why I don't know of them. I started listening to praise
contemporary worship in late 90s and 2000s.

These bands are comtemporary christian music and their music was in the
1980's and 1990's.

  Karen,

Who are these bands? Southern gospel?
These are the ones and I did not know about them.
What do you mean by back in that era?

  Truth
  Petra
  White Heart
  Caedmon's Call
  Imperials
  Harvest
  Carman

I think I have heard Take Six.
So many praise bands; I don't keep track of who sings what usually.

As to Church of Christ, can anyone comment from that denomination? We have
a
lot of Baptists on list, I think.
In my research so far, I found out that
they do not use instruments as Joshua pointed out. Further they do not use
incense or candles. Any singing is done by voice only.
That can be pretty if people sing on key. I don't know much about that
church. It’s the first I've heard of that does not use instrumental music
as
  part of worship.
  Quite interesting.

  Ashley

There is also another band back in that era and they are called truth.
Petra did retire too soon. Blessings to you

    Petra was a good group.
    They retired too soon!
    Another favorite was White Heart.
I also love Caedmons Call, and Take Six.
My cousin, Mark Farrow wrote a song for the Imperials, (Old Buddha.)
